Like a bull in a china shop I've gone ahead and taken the plunge... partly because I had an 8x10 panel to hand and found a jar of W&N acrylic medium in a drawer (never use acrylics so don't really know why I had it!).  It's actually worked like a dream I'm glad to report, even though it was a shame I had to crop it quite a bit to keep the main subject central.  Misted it and within minutes was as flat as a pancake, then I coated the back of the canvas with the medium and smoothed it down onto the panel, which actually I'd already primed so it had some tooth.  Better still, had a rather nice little English moulded frame to stick it into.  Won't be going to London though, as believe it or not I think I may already have a buyer  Every cloud has a silver lining...

Think I'd better do the lottery on Wednesday!

As you can see there was really no salvaging the left hand side due to the long rip.
